The Widad Kamel Kawar private costume collection is the most complete of Palestinian, Jordanian and other Arab costumes from the 19th and 20th centuries. Over a period of 50 years the collection has grown to contain more than 3000 costumes and weavings.
The time has come for this cultural treasure to have a home that befits it: Tiraz.
SYNTAX has worked closely with Widad Kawar and her foundation to develop the strategy, experience and brand of Tiraz, as a space and an institution that keep the traditions of Arab dress alive through exhibitions, preservation of textiles, educational activities, transmission of knowledge and publications.
